About this page

Checked / Updated

This guide brings together documented Slack shortcuts for conversations, messages, canvases and huddles, targeting Google Chrome on Windows 11. Each entry's focus, permission and preference conditions matter; Slack also warns that shortcuts marked * may differ when the keyboard language is not English.

Slack documents browser navigation, but some generic bindings have unresolved Chrome applicability. Its Windows/Linux list assigns Ctrl+Shift+W to reopening the last closed window; Chrome assigns it to closing the current window. Priority inside Slack is untested, so do not rely on it to reopen a window. The author reports checking Slack's English documentation on 2 November 2026; Windows and Chrome entries retain their own source-check dates. No specific Slack or Chrome build, Windows device or physical JIS/US layout was tested.

This page targets Slack on the web in Google Chrome on Windows 11. It preserves the research inventory, including explicitly flagged browser-scope questions; the generic Slack Windows/Linux table alone does not verify Chrome compatibility.

English Slack sources were checked on 2 November 2026. Native verification records identify the app documentation snapshot only. Shared Windows and Chrome objects retain their canonical verification records and dates exactly; those records are not new Slack tests.

Follow each section's and item's focus, permission and preference conditions. Message keys, text formatting, canvas search, Slack tabs and Chrome tabs refer to different targets.

Slack marks some shortcuts * for possible differences on keyboards configured for languages other than English, and ** for desktop-app-only shortcuts. Markers must be attached to the stated action or alternative. JIS and US physical positions have not been tested or assumed equivalent.

Chrome overlaps are documented for Slack workspace, navigation-tab, search, canvas, download and window bindings. Different published meanings do not establish runtime priority. In particular, Chrome documents Ctrl+Shift+W as closing its current window, while the generic Slack list calls it reopening a window.

The navigation guide explicitly lists Ctrl+F6 and Ctrl+Shift+F6 in its browser column. The generic list's F6 and Shift+F6 are not substituted for those browser keys.

Navigation-bar numbers follow the current tab order. Home, DMs and Activity use the retained numbers only when they occupy the corresponding positions; the screen-reader guide gives a different default order for people with Slackbot. https://slack.com/intl/en-gb/help/articles/360000411963-Use-Slack-with-a-screen-reader

The navigation guide documents C for clearing Activity items; the screen-reader guide's desktop-app tour documents E. Their Web distinction is unresolved, so E is not added as a browser alternative. https://slack.com/intl/en-gb/help/articles/360000411963-Use-Slack-with-a-screen-reader
