About this page

Checked / Updated

Preparing slides and presenting them involve different controls. This PowerPoint Keyboard Shortcuts guide covers creation, editing and delivery in PowerPoint for Microsoft 365 on Windows desktop, distinguishing editing commands from those used in full-screen Slide Show and Presenter View.

Coverage follows the official Windows creation and delivery tables without claiming completeness. This guide excludes add-ins, custom shortcuts, unconfirmed copy/paste alternatives and the unresolved Ctrl+D assignment for closing a presentation. Mac, web and mobile editions are outside its scope; other editions and builds are unverified.

The reference layout is US; JIS symbol positions and layout equivalence remain unverified. Although Windows 11 is listed, checks used documentation only: no Windows release, PowerPoint build or device was tested.

The PowerPoint evidence applies to Microsoft 365 desktop for Windows. Windows 11 is available in the environment selector, but no Windows release, PowerPoint build, device or runtime behavior was tested.

Microsoft's PowerPoint lists use the US keyboard layout. JIS and US layout choices are shown, but JIS symbol positions and equivalence between layouts have not been verified.

PowerPoint's documentation explicitly lists Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V for text, objects and slides. Ctrl+Insert and Shift+Insert have not been confirmed as PowerPoint alternatives and are not included.

A plus sign joins keys pressed together; a sequence of steps means press them in order. Ribbon access keys follow Microsoft's English Windows documentation. Commands added by add-ins or custom shortcuts are outside this list.

Some keys have different documented purposes in text, tables, the Selection pane, Slide Show and Presenter View. Read the section and operation conditions before using a shortcut.

Microsoft's creation table also assigns Ctrl+D to closing a presentation, while its object table assigns Ctrl+D to duplication. The close-presentation assignment remains unresolved and is not offered as a confirmed command here.

Check the app and OS version and your keyboard layout. Behavior can depend on your settings and active app. Each action links to its official source.
