Blending modesAdobe PhotoshopIn Photoshop, when the relevant blending mode is available and text entry is inactive

Change a layer's or a painting tool's blending mode where supported. Availability depends on the tool and image mode. The Sponge, Dodge, and Burn tools have separate settings on some of the same keys.

Set the blending mode to [Normal]
For an image that supports [Normal], excluding bitmap and indexed-color imagesThe shortcut PDF calls this mode Threshold for bitmap images and Normal for other images. The current English blending-mode help also calls Normal "Threshold" in indexed-color images. The indexed-color name-to-shortcut relationship remains unresolved, so that image mode is excluded from this entry.

Set the bitmap blending mode to [Threshold]
For a bitmap image, as specified in the shortcut PDFThe shortcut PDF explicitly connects this key to Threshold for bitmap images. The current English blending-mode help also uses the name Threshold for indexed-color images, but that naming statement alone does not verify this shortcut in indexed-color mode.

Cycle through blending modes
With blending modes available, outside text entryThe legacy reference PDF explicitly names plus and minus and displays "Last updated 11/5/2019". The shorter PDF abbreviates the row as "Shift ++ or --". The English Adobe combining-images tutorial describes Shift+plus for the next layer blend mode and Shift+minus for the previous one with the Move tool selected (https://helpx.adobe.com/ro/photoshop/how-to/combining-images-basics.html). That tutorial establishes a layer workflow, not behavior for every tool or a tested current build. No physical JIS/US key equivalence is inferred.

Checked / Updated

Use this collection to find documented default shortcuts for Photoshop on Windows desktop, from selections to layer arrangement. Read each entry with its conditions: a key's effect can depend on the editing context. Photoshop on the web and macOS are outside the scope, and the collection is not exhaustive.

The Photoshop sources were checked on November 2, 2026; shared Windows entries retain their earlier check dates. Desktop help and the shortcut sheet supply the commands, while the older full reference is used only to clarify notation. This is a documentation snapshot, with no particular Windows or Photoshop build tested. No device or physical keyboard was tested, and matching US/JIS symbol-key positions remains unverified.

This collection covers Adobe Photoshop desktop shortcuts documented for Windows. The inherited Windows 11 context is retained, but Adobe's Windows columns do not establish Windows 11-specific behavior. Web, Elements, standalone Camera Raw, and beta shortcuts are outside this collection.

English official help and the Windows columns of Adobe's shortcut PDF were checked on 2026-11-02 UTC. The short PDF does not identify a numbered app build. The full legacy reference displays Last updated 11/5/2019 and is used for notation clarification only. No app build, device, or physical keyboard behavior was tested.

Text fields, dialogs, filters, active tools, selections, and preferences can change a key's effect. Read the section and item conditions. Tool letters may be shared by a group; they do not always select a specific member first.

The existing Windows JIS and US layout references are retained. The shortcuts use Adobe's logical key labels. Symbol-key positions and shifted characters have not been assumed equivalent across layouts, and no Fn alternatives have been invented.

Repeated general rows in the PDF are represented once. Its specialist headings sometimes repeat general document commands; those repetitions do not establish that all such commands work inside every named dialog. Pointer gestures were read for coverage but are not expanded into a complete pointer-operation inventory. Temporary tool switches still require pointer input for sampling, panning, or painting.

This collection excludes the historical optional Extract and Pattern Maker plug-ins. It does not cover every desktop shortcut. Item notes identify documented ambiguities and unconfirmed behavior.

Custom shortcuts and [Use Legacy Undo Shortcuts] can change the defaults. The undo and redo entries assume the legacy option is disabled.

Blending-mode availability depends on the image mode and tool. The current English descriptions call Normal Threshold for bitmap and indexed-color images, while the shortcut sheet specifies bitmap for its Threshold row. Indexed-color shortcut behavior remains unresolved. Behind and Clear shortcut rows are limited to the Brush tool and require transparency to be unlocked.

The documentation check does not establish compatibility with a particular Windows or Photoshop build. Shared Windows shortcuts retain their earlier source-check dates.

Panel visibility and field navigation share Tab and Shift+Tab. The cited panel instructions and field-navigation tables do not resolve which action takes priority for a particular keyboard focus; no focus-routing test was performed.

Check the app and OS version and your keyboard layout. Behavior can depend on your settings and active app. Each action links to its official source.
